SAN DIEGO, Jan. 07, 2016 — FortuneBuilders, the nation’s premier real estate education company, is launching Future FortuneBuilders, the latest initiative from the company’s philanthropic arm, FortuneBuilders Gives. In partnering with the Equal Footing Foundation, the Future FortuneBuilders (FFB) initiative will seek to encourage the entrepreneurial spirit of the country’s youth by providing a much needed financial education for teens across the nation.
FortuneBuilders will kick off the financial literacy program in Atlanta, January 9-10, 2016, with its first public Future FortuneBuilders day camp for teens. The event will host nearly 100 students between the ages of 13 and 17, each of whom are already registered for attendance. The two-day event will be held at the Embassy Suites by Hilton Atlanta at Centennial Olympic Park.
“We are really excited to partner with FFB and bring financial education to students in the areas we visit for our larger events,” said Than Merrill, CEO of FortuneBuilders. “It’s a great way to help give back and develop financially literate entrepreneurs for the future.”
At a time when consumer debt is at an all-time high, 84 percent of students ages 18-25 say that they needed financial management in high school and, of those students, 54 percent say they wished they had courses on it. With a firm belief that a strong financial understanding early in life will set the best course for success, FortuneBuilders Gives and the Equal Footing Foundation are providing 30 scholarships for students throughout the Atlanta area. Students from Therell High School and North Atlanta High School, as well as the Community Foundation for Financial Literacy, will receive these courses at no cost, as to provide a foundation for financial stability in the future.
“What excites me the most about this event, is eliminating the excuse ‘I wish I knew that in high school,’” said JP Servideo, Co-Founder and Speaker for Future FortuneBuilders. “Our goal is to give this generation of kids the ability to be more successful, more personally fulfilled and to do more good by the end of their lives than any before it.”
Future FortuneBuilders aims to educate teens to ensure a more financially savvy upcoming generation. During the two-day event, students will learn irreplaceable life skills, including best practices for setting goals and developing successful habits to achieve those goals. Money management seminars will allow attendees to look at their money from an investor’s perspective, and pinpoint what they can do now to build their credit early in life.
