Welcome back guys. Clinton Young here with FB Talent Network.
Today I want to discuss the importance of company culture to your job search and ultimate happiness and fulfillment in your career.
Sometimes you just need a job and have to take a job to make some money, I get it.
However, ideally you want to find a company where you are in an optimal environment to flourish. Not just succeed.
To give you an example of company culture, and also a better understanding of where we’re coming from with our advice in these videos to help you land your dream opportunity, I’d like to share the 20 second history of how the culture has formed over time here at FortuneBuilders.
About 10 yrs ago, our CEO and former NFL player Than Merrill started investing in real estate with a childhood friend Paul Esajian, and college buddy Konrad Sopielnikow from Yale, and their first company CT Homes was born. After three years and successfully completing over 200 real estate deals they were approached by the hit show on A&E called Flip this House. Soon after that they created FortuneBuilders to teach entrepreneurs to build a systems-driven and scalable real estate investment business. For the last 7 yrs CT Homes has continued to grow and is on track to do close to a hundred deals in the buy, fix, and sell model this year alone, and several hundred wholesale deals, among other strategies like being the bank, (lending money to other real estate investors).
Bottom line, these guys are some of the most successful entrepreneurs in the country. The best part about them is that even though they’ve done hundreds of real estate deals and have 8 different successful businesses, they’re just regular guys who love being entrepreneurs and love giving back. Check out Equal Footing Foundation and FortuneBuilders Gives to see some of the philanthropy our founders and team members are currently involved in. One of our founders Paul Esajian always says “Our goal at FortuneBuilders is to help our coaching students become the best version of themselves, and in order for us to do that, we as employees must always strive to become the best version of our selves”.
So the culture that has organically grown here at FB, (which was super important to me when I was looking for my next opportunity), is very uniquely employee focused. Being an entrepreneur, I was looking for a company culture that was laid back, yet very professional and cutting edge, where I’d be working with “A Players”, the “Best of the Best”, in a stable and high growth company, that offered plenty of opportunities for me to grow personally and professionally, and where I get to work with cool people who are actively engaged in increasing the quality of their lives.
That’s exactly what I found at FortuneBuilders.
Now this might not be the type of culture that you’re seeking for employment. If not, that’s fine. Define for yourself what is important to you in a company culture, write it down and go out and find it using the Discovery Process I’ll share in a later video!
Stay tuned to learn more about the discovery process and how developing entrepreneurial skills now is paramount to landing your dream opportunity later.
Create an excellent week.
